What it is

A pantry app that reads receipts instead of barcodes

Duneed: Receipt to Pantry is an iPhone app for people who buy food, forget what they bought, and throw some of it out. Photograph the receipt and it becomes a list of what is in your kitchen, with what you paid for each thing.

From that one photo you get three things: a pantry you can search, a running total of what the month cost by category, and a shopping list the whole household can tick off. Put a date on the things that turn and Duneed tells you a few days before, in one quiet evening notification.

There is no barcode to scan, no budget to set up and no recipe feed — and it is an iPhone app, not a website. It does one job: turning a receipt you already have into an inventory you can actually see.

How it works

One photo, then you are done

No barcode to scan, no form to fill in. The receipt already knows what you bought and what it cost.

  1. Photograph the receipt

Paper on the counter or a screenshot of a digital one. Duneed reads the lines and sorts them into categories.

  2. Check the list

Nothing is filed behind your back. Rename an item, fix a price, drop a line you did not want — then save.

  3. Get told before it turns

Put a date on anything that turns, and one quiet evening notification tells you what needs eating — not a stream of alerts.

On the phone

Four screens, no set-up

Real captures from the app, not mockups. Swipe or scroll to see the rest.

  • Duneed's pantry screen: eight grocery items grouped by category, two carrying amber badges that read 3 days left and 2 days left
Every line off the receipt, filed and dated.
  • Duneed's expenses screen: a September total of $30.92 above a locked waste card and a breakdown by category
What the month cost, split by category.
  • Duneed's shopping list mid-shop: three items left to buy above three already ticked off
A list you can tick one-handed.
  • A single item, Chicken Breast, showing the $7.49 you paid and an expiry date of Sep 12, 2026
The price you paid and the day it turns.
What you get

A kitchen that keeps its own books

  • Nothing rots at the back of the fridge

Put a date on the things that turn and the warning arrives a few days early — not the morning after.

  • Where the money actually went

The receipt carried the prices, so the month adds itself up: a total, last month to compare it with, and the categories underneath.

  • One pantry for the household

On Premium, everyone you shop with sees the same shelf and the same list, so nobody buys the milk twice.

  • Works with no signal

The pantry, the list and the history live on the phone. Signing in syncs them across devices; it does not switch them on.

The pledge

The photo is never stored

The receipt image is sent once, read, and deleted — on the phone and on the server. It is never written to a disk we own. What survives is the text you approved: the shop, the date, the items and the prices.

  • No location, no contactsand no photo library access.
  • Held in Germanyon servers inside the European Union.
  • Yours to take or deletefrom inside the app, without asking us.

Questions

The things people ask first

How many receipts can I scan for free?

3 scans a month on the free plan. Premium raises that to 30 scans a week.

Does Duneed work without an internet connection?

Yes — the app is local-first, so your pantry, shopping list and history all work offline. Signing in adds sync across devices; it isn't required to use the app.

Is the receipt photo stored anywhere?

No. It's read once, to pull out the items and prices, and deleted immediately afterward — it's never written to storage we own.

Can I share a pantry with my household?

Yes, on Premium — everyone in the household sees the same shelf and shopping list.

What does Premium cost?

$1.99 a month, or $11.99 a year with a 7-day free trial.

Is Duneed available for Android?

Not yet — Duneed is iPhone-only today.

Your next shop could file itself

Scan the receipt on the way home and the pantry is done before you have put the bags down.
